Tarboro

Lisa is an artist and Mike is a doctor. They have three grown children who all have growing families of their own. Lisa and Mike found a vacant lot just east of downtown Raleigh – walkable to various amenities and bikeable to the hospital where Mike works. They set out to design their dream home and never once considered resale, thereby giving them the freedom to create a 100% customized home, just for them and their family.

The house is largely a one-story home that offers all the space Lisa and Mike would ever need, should they ever need to reside on the main level only. A partial second story (laid out around a possible future elevator), includes a room for watching movies/guest bedroom and full bath. The remainder of the floor is dedicated to Lisa’s painting studio which is open to the stair and lets in light from three sides plus a large skylight! One third of the accessible space upstairs is a covered deck with views of downtown just beyond the thick and sprawling tree canopy of Historic Oakwood.

JW Builders is building the house whose completion is scheduled for fall 2022.
